[Waalwijk, Netherlands] Desso is adding residential and commercial collections to its patented Desso AirMaster carpet collection. According to Desso, which manufacturers broadloom and carpet tile, Desso AirMaster Elements and Desso AirMaster Blend for the commercial market and Desso AirMaster for Home offer a wider variety of patterns and textures with all the functionality of the original Desso AirMaster range.
The company cites a Californian study by William Fisk from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, saying the research showed that improved indoor air quality could also boost productivity. “His research showed an increase by 0.5 to 5 percent, with estimated savings of $12 to $125 billion per year in the U.S.,” Desso states.
Desso AirMaster Elements includes Atmos, Cosmo, Oxy and Sphere, all available in six neutral colors ranging from warm beige to deep slate. AirMaster Atmos is a structured, loop pile carpet tile, while the textured loop pile, AirMaster Oxy offers a subtly organic and irregular pattern similar. AirMaster Sphere has a handmade feel inspired by rustic natural materials while AirMaster Cosmo has an understated linear design.
Desso AirMaster Blend offers a linear look that complements the designs of the original AirMaster collection. Blend is available in six colorations.
Desso AirMaster for Home is a robust loop pile carpet with a pure and natural appearance. Its design is based on the latest trends in home decoration, according to the company.
Alexander Collot d’Escury, Desso CEO said, “The new Desso AirMaster ranges epitomize our drive towards healthier indoor spaces. They offer a built-in functionality that reduces the amount of fine dust in the indoor air, combined with feel-good inspirational design. We have a clear vision based on ‘making the floor work for our health and wellbeing’ as we spend on average 90 percent of our time indoors. To this end, we have launched our ‘Great Indoors’ campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of bad indoor air quality and to demonstrate what can be done to combat the problem.”
The AirMaster Elements and Blend lines contain Econyl, a nylon yarn made by Aquafil from 100 percent recycled nylon. As part of Desso’s ongoing commitment to making a positive impact on health and wellbeing, the company has joined Healthy Seas, an initiative to help clean up the seas, founded by ECNC Group, Aquafil and Star Sock.
According to a report from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), there are approximately 640,000 tons of abandoned fishing nets in the oceans. The participation of Desso in the Healthy Seas initiative seeks to contribute in recovering part of these abandoned fishing nets that are then turned into beautiful yarn and Desso carpets, thanks to the Econyl Regeneration System, according to Desso.
