March Employment Report Weak

Washington, DC, April 6, 2015—Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 126,000 in March, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 5.5%.

The March gain is the smallest increase since December 2013.

Employment continued to trend up in professional and business services, health care, and retail trade, while mining lost jobs.
