In the News – New Home Sales Rising In The South, But Affordability Remains Issue

A strong labor supply, cheaper land, and looser zoning restrictions have helped the states in the South thrive when it comes to new home sales.

Business Insider reports that the 12.4 percent jump in seasonally adjusted home sales across the nation in July is largely due to the surge of southern states, from Delaware to Texas. The region has been outperforming other areas since 2010.

The site also reports that experts are seeing a slowdown, caused by a lack of affordability. Buyers typically outnumber the available homes for sale.
