In the News – USTR Retaliatory Tariffs
You may recall that in the Spring of 2019, the United States Trade Representative (USTR) issued a list of products that were on the preliminary target list for retaliatory tariffs to be imposed on products from European Union (EU) countries. This was being taken by the USTR as a retaliatory measure for illegal subsidies the EU paid to its main aircraft manufacturer, thereby providing an advantage in the US aircraft marketplace for the EU based company Airbus.
There were some limited tile products from the EU member countries on the preliminary list. In an attempt to keep tile products off this and any future (expanded) list of products, CTDA’s Executive Director, Rick Church, testified on behalf of CTDA members, both in person and by written submissions detailing the case for EU ceramic tile being kept off the targeted product list. (See the testimony here).
We are pleased to announce that today the final list of EU products subject to these retaliatory tariffs was announced by the USTR and it does NOT include any ceramic tile or related products.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Rick Church directly at email@example.com.
